Borgund Folk High School is situated near Ålesund on the west coast of Norway. The school grounds slope down towards a fjord, and we enjoy the magnificent view of the Sunnmøre (this region of Norway) Alps. Ålesund Airport is also quite close at hand (approximately 45 minutes by bus). The newly modernized boarding accommodation is of a high standard. There is a shower and toilet in each room. Borgund Folk High School is owned and run by a Christian organisation (Sunnmøre Indremisjon).

As part of the curriculum at Borgund Folk High school you may choose between eight different major travel destinations, and the country you choose will be the subject of two days of each week's tuition.  These countries are: Africa, Australia - backpack, Australia - multisport, Middle East - peace study, New Zealand - outdoor, South-America, Thailand/Vietnam, USA - travel study. Each travel destination group will spend  3 - 4 weeks on a visit to the country of their choice.
In addition to the travelling class, you may compose your own weekly schedule, choosing between more than fifty different seminar subjects according to your personal interests. These occupy about 10 - 15 hours per week.

There are also some shared lessons and activities. This means that all the students attend common lessons or group lessons. At Borgund the following classes are compulsory: Cultural lessons (Ethics, Psychology, Religion), School Choir, Silent Hour and different Saturday lectures.
Some evenings are compulsory: Student evenings on Saturdays and some fellowship-evenings on weekdays.

Besides those mentioned above we offer you many voluntary leisure activities. Among these are: Christian fellowship groups, gospel choir, athletic groups, indoor climbing, unihockey, soccer, aerobics, guitar groups, canoe and boating, table tennis, billiards, open computer room, art, student kitchen, music room with practice instruments, bible- and conversation groups.
The school year runs from around August 21th to May 14th. During this time you will have experienced a traditional education, class excursions, a study excursion abroad (Iceland), various other projects and a visit to your country of choice.

For 2010/2011 the total cost of your residence and tuition will amount to 75.500,- Norwegian kroner. Most students stay in double rooms, but we have a few single rooms at your disposal for the extra charge of 5.000 NOK. In addition to this, the students are charged for their books/school materials, excursions, rent for various equipment etc. Depending on which main expedition you choose, the expenses for this will amount to somewhere between 25.000- 27.000 NOK. This year all classes will travel abroad.

In October each year, the entire school travel  to Iceland. This is a compulsory trip which in our opinion is an asset both socially and in professional terms.
